On April 1 the second edition of CleanDrinks Rotterdam will be hosted @ Club Watt! We are inviting all creative and sustainable minded people to attend this network event. The evening can start with an eco dinner for those who make reservations quickly, the menu is available at www.CleanDrinks.com.

For the 5th time KLUBBERS DAY is organizing a huge festival in Madrid. This event will take place on 18, 19 and 20 of March. The main novelty for this festival is the green angle. We are proud to announce that Bahia’s carnival in Brazil is about to start on the Sustainable Dance Floor. The former Cultural Minister and one of the most prestigious musicians in Brazil, Gilberto Gil is hosting this great event.

Under the motto “Come share your energy” BC Hydro is organizing a very cool unofficial hub event during the Olympic Games of 2010. It’s a zero charge gathering place in downtown Vancouver, very close to the Olympic grid. Of course the Sustainable Dance Floor will generate its positive energy during the full length of the games at this special venue.

Rotterdam proved to have an extensive sustainable network at the CleanDrinks event on the 5th of November. More than 200 sustainably-minded people came together at the home of ecologically responsible caterer Eethiek, to drink, make connections and dance.

Alijd van Doorn is one of the inventors of the Sustainable Dance Floor and she has leaded the project for 2 years. Last oktober was her wedding which took place along the Maas in Rotterdam. As we cannot accept an SDC party without the Sustainable Dance Floor, we surprised her and brought the floor to her party.

On the 20th of August 2009, SDC had the honour of being present at the first ‘Play to Stop, Europe for climate’ event in Stockholm.  Moby and other international stars preformed to raise awareness of climate change issues.

Hoe?Zo!, is a science-based program produced by the Dutch television company, Teleac. The show puts innovative products and inventions to the test with the help of Dutch celebrities. Sparks flew when record label owner, Stacey Rookhuizen and comedian Thomas van Luyn produced energy alongside professional dancers on the Sustainable Dance Floor. This unique dance floor made its entrance in September 2008 at the opening of the first Sustainable Dance Club™; Club WATT at Rotterdam.
After a tour with one of America's biggest brands at several clubs of New York last autumn, the dance floor is now ready for use at events, exhibitions and festivals.

During the last few months improvements have been being made to the dance floor to make energy production more efficient and allow the floor to become 100% self-sufficient.

The worldwide interest in the dance floor has resulted in Sustainable Dance Club receiving a great number of requests to hire the product.  In order to give the international community an opportunity to experience the floor live, a mobile version is now on tour.

2 Years after the first presentation of the concept of sustainable clubbing, the first real Sustainable Dance Club is a fact. For two years Sustainable Dance Club has been changing and envolving into a more professional organisation. Continiously looking towards future, some things just had to be adjusted!

After the Critical Mass in Off Corso (2006) and the sustainable dance party in Club 11 we are finally there: The first Sustainable Dance Club is going to be opened the 4th of September in Rotterdam.

The floor is still under construction, so we have made a promotional film which shows the look, the technology and the interactivity of the dance floor. Be the first to watch the film!

Sustainable Dance Club is going to London for negotiations on opening the second SDC! Club4Climate, a London based organization, is very interested in opening a second Sustainable Dance Club. SDC is going to London this July.

Sustainable Dance Club has an open culture and gives young people and eager students the opportunity to work at a fun and exciting company that inspires creative and innovative thinking.

Rotterdam: the city that wants to support young and creative people and reduce their CO2. The city where SDC is established..it is the place where the soon to be world's first Sustainable Dance Club is going to open its doors! Thursday March 20th, club Watt had its press-conference in Rotterdam.

Sustainable Dance Club is one of the five finalists in the PICNIC Green Challenge. The PICNIC Green Challenge encourages creative and innovative spirits to give a concrete contribution to reversing climate change.

Sustainable Dance Club comes with an exciting new movie which shows the possibilities that could one day be available using the energy re-generating dance floor

Two recent video's are shown on the Dutch television and on OneWorld.org.

Quality information program NOVA on Dutch television showed in the week before 7 July a serie on new initiatives called the 'green light'.

Trees for Dance gives clubs and festivals the opportunity to calculate the amount CO2 they produce. Also individual clubbers are able to measure their CO2 footprint of an all-night-long clubbin' night. Trees for Dance offers everyone including big festivals the opportunity to compensate for the CO2 consumption by planting trees.

Two testing models of the electricity-generating dance floor were presented Amsterdam Live Earth in the pavilion of the Sustainable Dance Club. When the night fell slowly both testing models started to illuminate brightly themselves.

On 7/7/7 the world will experience the largest music event ever organised: Live Earth! This monumental music event will bring together more than 2 billion people to raise awareness about global warming.

The special edition of the Sustainable Dance Club in 11  was very succesful. The overall goal to save 30% of the normal waste of energy, water and glass has been reached. By seducing clubbers to take the steps in stead of the elevator gave a postive (or exactly: less negative) balance on our plannes electricity saving. Having reached the 11th floor clubbers said they really enjoyed the steps. Visual artist Sis Josip, graphic designers Lucky Dubz and DC Works a human powered - by cycling - turntabel of the DJ gave the people an unexpected sensation.

The night of 1st June 2007 will be the informal kick-off of the ‘Sustainable Week in Amsterdam’ with the first Amsterdam sustainable dance night in club 11. If you think sustainability is dull, think again!

The SDC has been asked by Energy bureau ARC to organise a Sustainable Dance Club event at Club 11 on Friday the 1st of June as a spectaculair kick-off of the Week of Sustainable Amsterdam (2-5th of June).
